Looking for
something a little more adventurous and active than just visiting the Theme
Parks? How about following some historical trails? You can hike,
bike and even canoe around some
historical trails.
If you don't want to do the trip by yourself, they offer several chances
throughout the year to go on an organized hike (or bike and in one case
canoe). Sponsored by the Central Florida Chapter of the Florida Trail
Association and led by Steve Rajtar who researched and established the
routes to be let, you can follow
historical trails such as:
Full Moon Tour of Orlando Greenwood Cemetery!
This walk covers about 2 miles along the paved roads which wind through the
cemetery, visiting the graves of prominent Orlandoans. This is a moonlight
tour so bring a flashlight...
Bushnell Historical trail
You've heard of the Dade Massacre - now walk over the same path where the
soldiers fell in 1835 and the quaint town nearby. This is a loop of 5.8
miles and you get the chance to see 15 historical sites.
Winter Park Historical Canoe Trail
Bring a canoe or kayak and park at Dinky Dock. Paddle through several scenic
lakes and canals and stop at up to 30 historical sites.
